First off...

I created this blog account like 2 years ago....tonight is the first time I have ever used it!

I still don't know what I'm supposed to do with it but I guess I'll just start typing away...

A little about me:

I'm a 36 year old wife and mother of 3 beautiful girls. My oldest is 19, the middle is 3 and then my baby will be 2 in about 2 months. Yes....I know there is a pretty big gap in their ages!

I met my husband almost 21 years ago and then we got married after being together for 9 years. I would say we definitely have overcome the typical teenage parent stereotype.

Let's see...

I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic in 2006. At first I was so gung-ho to lose weight, get healthy and try to turn this diagnosis around. This was also the year I was at my heaviest weight. In the beginning, I lost 20 pounds in a month just from cutting back my portions and eliminating soda.

Today....I struggle with being a diabetic. I always tell myself that I'm going to start tomorrow! Or we are changing our eating habits. But..it never happens. So, I'll attempt again tomorrow to try to have the motivation to make those changes.

December 27, 2014, I received a frantic call from my mother in law. She was crying and screaming on the phone and I couldn't make out what she was saying. She just kept telling me to go to her house right now. I thought maybe she hadn't fallen and hurt herself. When I asked her she said it wasn't her and just kept screaming and saying "why!? why!?" So I kept questioning her thinking she had my niece and nephew and maybe one of them got hurt. No...it wasn't them.

We live only a few blocks from her and out of nowhere I hear sirens. I asked if she called 911. She said yes. My husband was in the garage so I ran outside and told him to get to her house right now. He got there and didn't call me right away. I kept calling till he finally answered.

"Get over here right now."

How am I supposed to get there? Our car was out of commission, I had the 2 babies and my oldest had the other car and I couldn't get a hold of her.

I asked him if everything was ok....he said no. I asked if his mom was hurt...he said "no it's Frankie."

So...someone finally picked me up and I was told on the way over that Frankie, my brother in law, died.

Holy Shit!

Frankie....34 years old, died of a massive heart attack.

Frankie was also a diabetic. His uncontrolled diabetes was part of his reason of death.

So, when things calmed down after his death, my husband went and had a stress test on his heart. The results were good. He did find that he is also a type 2 diabetic.

Now this should be more reason and motivation for me to try harder to make those changes.....
